The first encounter with one occurred when one of these dragons--or more appropriately, wyverns--emerged through the open rifts under the grounds of Trefoil Academy (game off: camp 2020). It was found chewing on the shimmering ripples of an open rift, as if it was eating the chaotic energies that students are warned to NEVER touch, as it could tear them apart! This particular dragon seemed immune to such damage.
This particular dragonkin has two legs and a pair of wings, making it a wyvern. The one seen by the students of Trefoil was dark-scaled with patterns of icy blue glowing along its flanks and wings, and patches of ice-white on its underbelly. It is suspected there are other color patterns as well, and that it has heat-tracking vision.
It is native to Niflheim, where it seems to be a perfect emblem of the whole realm's shadow and ice duality, and the raw, feral chaos of the realm.

They are said to travel to Helheim regularly, and some can always be found at Nástrandir (the Corpse Shores) where they try to feed on anything and everything.
Nidhoggr[]
"Nidhoggr" means Malice Striker in old Norse. It is suggested that Nidhoggr itself is a creature of legend and prophecy, a primal force of raw, cruel chaos and destruction that cannot itself be defeated. As opposed to the legends of the Black Wave, however, it is suggested that Nidhoggr is quite sentient and can be spoken with, but is just as likely to tear a visitor apart and use their bones as toothpicks. It is unknown what would happen if a Black Wave came upon Nidhoggr, as they seem to be much the same element and mindset.
