This bloodline is not a public ally due to political pressure: Trefoil Academy of Magery and Sorcery is being heavily slandered by the Westgaard-controlled government, which would make any alliance too risky. Official alliance with the academy would brand them as illegal mages by the Westgaards and result in them all being arrested by the Ministry, they have “declined” any official correspondence with Trefoil Academy, though have been rumored to provide resources and protection to some members of the Academy and its allies. The details of any of their alliances or negotiations are unknown.
Despite this, some members of the Sloan bloodline secretly attend and support Trefoil Academy. The Sloan heiress, Lady Caitlyn Sloan is known to be the staff member “Paws,” and she is also status partner to the Vek heir, Lord Claudius Vek, and his plumbum stipator, Asher Niesh.
Recently, the bloodline has been very active in fighting against Mage Hunters and protecting the people in its lands around the British Isles. In the winter of 2004, they rescued the remaining members of the Cambel bloodline after their main estate was overrun with Vizier Aura brainwashed Arids; the survivors are now half members of the Sloan bloodline.
- Head: Lord Paden Sloan, elderly
- Heiress: Lady Caitlyn Sloan-Davis
- Insignia: shield and sword, with bindrune
- Colors: green and bronze
Main Estate[]
The bloodline's main estate and stronghold is called Benanahan, or Bear Peak, located in Scotland. It is an old and well-defended castle on a mountaintop with a protected village at one side, and a deep, wild forest on the other. The mountain range extends to encompass the valley of forest, with several smaller keeps along its periphery. Given the age of the bloodline reaching back many thousands of years, it is suspected that the bloodline has deep Gaelic roots.
Family Branches[]
Since the bloodline has grown much smaller in the past 200 years, its family branches are much less well-defined, but many of the names still exist. Not all members bear these surnames, especially since the members of the Sloan bloodline often use matronymic or patronymic names instead to honor a parent, but some do.

Known Members[]
Cinnamon[]
Cinnamon, officially Séarlait Lasair, is the daughter of Ruairidh Lasair of the Sloan bloodline and Celeste Lasair of the Flores bloodline (tier 2, rank 11 of the Roque board). Her father is a researcher for the Sloans, and her mother is a weaponmaster who trains guards for her own bloodline. Her sister, Elaine, was claimed to the Flores bloodline, and her younger brother, Donovan, has been claimed to the Flores bloodline. Cinnamon currently acts as a scout and informant for the Sloans, specifically regarding information about the Witch Hunters.
Tiernan Sloan (NPC): one of Lord Sloan's grandsons, he was raised as an agnes with a plan to make him the next warlord, groomed by his father for the role. He was only 5, however, when the bloodline learned of their long-lost heirloom's return and Lady Sloan was recognized as heiress. His father attempted a coup to reclaim the title for his son, betraying the heiress, and did not survive the attempt. Tiernan was shocked by his father's betrayal of the bloodline, and is now one of Lady Caitlyn Sloan's most fervent young supporters and a member of the Dinah Community. He loves dragons, often trains with Seran Vek, and hopes to be a Candidate one day.
Tamhas mac Nolan (NPC): part of the Dinah community as a candidate, he is sometimes seen at the Academy as part of Paws' security detail. His father is Lord Sloan's current Plumbum Stipator. He has a very subtle and polite presence that is easy to overlook until his ward is in danger. He often has two different archery bows at any given time.
Balgair MacCale (NPC): part of the Dinah community as a candidate, he is sometimes seen at the Academy as part of Paws' security detail. He is Tamhas' status partner, and is far more playful and flashy than his partner is. He favors sword and cloak for fighting, and has a young son named Finlay.
Gavinia nic Iona Moray (NPC): part of the Dinah community as a candidate, she is sometimes seen at the Academy as part of Paws' security detail. She favors dual-wield light swords or using a longbow, and is always very stylish. She has a young son named Finlay.
Brooke nicAlissa (NPC): a dragonrider whose rare existence has helped secure much of the Sloans' recent upward ranking progress. Her dragon is a Nightsong, a nocturnal and territorial breed of large dragon, which is named Rizoel and she raised from an egg.
Erina nic Raith (NPC): mentioned to be fighting the Witch Hunters with a team.
Allies[]
Current known allies of the Sloan bloodline include:
Vek Bloodline, t1r6 of the Cinavetti board: owing to the status partnership between the Vek heir and Sloan heiress. Due to being on different boards and being of different ranks, the Veks are not permitted to make direct alliance actions to support the Sloans, but there are numerous ways the alliance is benefitting them both in terms of resources and information. It has been a somewhat tense arrangement for some of the Sloans, however, since about 25 years ago, the Veks had sought to take control of the board by force and had directly attacked some of the Sloans' allies, requiring them to fight against each other.
Clumban bloodline, t2r2 of the Engout board: as a descendent bloodline of the Sloans themselves, they have a standing alliance of mutual aid and have been instrumental in saving the Sloans from outright destruction in battles with other bloodlines in the past 200 years. Their name means white-feathers and they are primarily based in what is modernly known as Ireland and have an intense rivalry with the O'Suileabhan bloodline, t2r1.
Mac Ai bloodline, t2r9 of the Engout board: has been working with the Sloans in their rise, despite being surpassed by the Sloans at this point.
Iceni bloodline, t2r13 of the Engout board: a tributary bloodline of the Cantiaci (t1r2 tribus) who suffered similar backslide in recent centuries and are eager to regain some ground in the rankings. This is the same bloodline as Boudicca of legend, who united many bloodlines in battle against Roman invasion thousands of years ago. They themselves have an alliance with the Durotriges, who are t1r12 and are on loosely friendly terms with the Sloans as well.
Haart bloodline, t1r7 of the Engout board: is one of the board's original 12 tribus; it has an ancient alliance with the Sloans but due to tier differences, cannot often get involved. Have offered to renegotiate for tributary "support" but understand why that has been declined. They seem to be waiting patiently for the Sloans to come within a reasonable ranking, though to what end is unknown. This bloodline is known for its patience and scholarly mindset, and is host to some of the most impressive libraries and magical research facilities on the whole board, which often makes it a target by other bloodlines.
Bennetio bloodline, t3r20 of the Engout board: is a tributary bloodline of the Sloans, offering resources in trade for protection and support.
Vieth bloodline, t3r23 of the Engout board: is a tributary bloodline of the Sloans, offering resources in trade for protection and support. It is a very young bloodline recently created from survivors of a Witch Hunter raid against the former Caledor bloodline.
Recent History[]
Hundreds of years ago, the Sloan Bloodline had been one of the largest and most powerful bloodlines in the British Isles. Within the past two hundred years, however, the bloodline had been at the bottom of the second tier due to a huge battle with the O'Faeron bloodline, a time in which the Engout bloodline claimed power over the board.
In the past decade, the Sloan bloodline has risen quickly through the ranks of the 2nd tier at a speed befitting a former ruling bloodline, despite efforts by the Westgaards to impede the rise. The bloodline as a whole is frequently under scrutiny by the Westgaards owing to their heiress' connection both to Trefoil Academy and to the Westgaards' ancient rival, the Vek bloodline.
Lady Sloan, or "Paws," sometimes goes by the name of "swaP" while in correspondence with the Academy in a very blatant and obvious disguise to the Westgaards, who otherwise cannot prove that the bloodline has connections to the outlaws.
Rumors, Observations, and Theories[]
- The Westgaards do not like the Sloans because of their heiress' status partnership to the Vek heir (confirmed)
- The Sloan bloodline's rise back through the ranks started after the Academy's last time travel as well as the naming of Paws as heiress, which is also the same time the Westgaards rose to power. Are those things related, and how?
- Would the Sloans be willing to offer a formal alliance if certain conditions were met?
- The Sloans own a magical Locksmith shop in Longon (confirmed)
