Age and History[]

Hasinai Hall of Ancient Arts is located in East Texas in the United States. The area has a long history going back several thousand years as a site of a pilgrimage from which men and women would journey from far away, returning to their people imbued with ancient wisdom. Over time, wise elders would migrate back to the area, hoping to teach others what they had learned since their own journey there, forever building on the knowledge that they'd gained, passing it on to others. Eventually, small structures began to appear in the area as wise men and women began staying there, rather than migrating back and forth, ready to build and build on the knowledge that was passed on to the seekers who came to them. Not all who journeyed were deemed worthy to be taught, and it was a long time before it was known how those who were selected to receive knowledge were chosen.

While the location of the school has been an area of enlightenment for thousands of years, the formal establishment of Hasinai Hall of Ancient Arts occurred in 1840. At this time, the practice of formal application and enrollment began. The application process is unique. As for thousands of years, applicants (called seekers for this process) present themselves to the grounds of the school. Those who are turned away will never see the school, simply staring out at a forest until they realize that they have not been chosen for enlightenment. If a seeker is deemed worthy of enlightenment, the spirit of a buffalo will appear to them and guide them inside the gates of the school. Only after the buffalo has appeared will the seeker be able to see the school grounds.

After being chosen, a sorting occurs. The buffalo will guide the seeker to the main entrance to the school. The doors will open, and the seeker will walk forward into the Hall of the Elements where they will stand in the center. Eventually, the seeker will be claimed by an element in some way. Air students may experience a breeze. Fire students may find themselves in a ring of fire. Earth students may be wrapped in vines. Water students may find themselves in a light shower. The experience varies form student to student, but one by one, each will be claimed by an element. After the element has claimed them, the spirit totem for that element will guide them to them to join their fellow seekers. Earth students are guided by a Mastadon. Fire students are guided by a Saber Cat. Water students are guided by a Megaladon. Air students are guided by a Giant Eagle.

Unlike many schools, however, students are roomed in groups of four, one student for each element roomed together in a suite. It is believed harmony is best achieved with a balance of the four elements, and the mingling and cooperation of these elements is a core fundamental for all Hasinai students.
