Bayou LaVeau Académie L'Enchantement was established in 1855 by Marie Catherine LaVeau Paris Glapion and her daughter Marie Eucharist Eloise Laveau. It is known worldwide for its training and advances in herbology, alchemy, venificium, healing, divination, telepology, necromancy, and conjuration.

Mages in the Mississippi River delta were home schooled for generations until the establishment of the Bayou LaVeau Academie L'Enchantment in 1855. Its strong foundations in herbology and healing rapidly drew talented young mages from throughout the area to study under the Sorcieres and Traiteurs (healers) that established themselves there.

Student Life[]
Students are considered for admission who are 10 years old by start of term on September 1 for what is the equivalent of 5th grade in the American school system.
The school grounds is a central mansion surrounded by a series of houses hidden within Bayou St. John as it drains into Lake Pontchartrain on the northeast edge of New Orleans City Park. The school is hidden from mundanes by a series of enchantments and wards. The grounds are heavily shaded by cypress trees frequently draped with Spanish moss.
Students are sorted into one of four Maisons. Each Maison is a large estate house unto itself on the grounds:
Canaillerie [KAHN EYE YER REE]
- Mascot: Catahoula leopard dog
- One has to be on their toes in this Maison. Students here are quick-witted and sly. They can be tricky ones, full of adventure and surprises.
Cocodrire [CO CO DRY REE]
- Mascot: Alligator
- Laughter is the soundtrack of this Maison. Occupants here are known for a quick laugh and a helping hand. They are hard workers, determined, and tenacious.
Douxfort [DEW FORT]
- Mascot: Black bear
- Students of this Maison are known for their sweet and gentle natures, but also their strength of conviction and character. They are loyal and stalwart.
Pensersmatte [PEN ZER SMAHT]
- Mascot: Brown Pelican
- Students here are known for their quiet and contemplative natures and deep intelligence. The quietest Maison, a place to reflect and ponder the intricacies of magic.
The school uniform typically consists of a black frock coat with their Maison symbol embroidered on it, deep purple vest, a white high collar button shirt or button bella shirt with a satin green puff tie or neck bow, black slacks with a belt or a black skirt , black leather short boots or ankle boot. The following hats may be worn if desired outdoors: black linen applejack hat, black derby hat, top hat, black riding hat, black day hat, or black fascinator. Hats may be accented with either green or purple to match ties and/or vests.
